Given: (x² + 5x - 2)-(3x²-x+4)

Remove the parentheses:

[tex]=x^2+5x-2-3x^2+x-4[/tex]

Add like terms:

[tex]\begin{gathered} =x^2-3x^2+5x+x-2-4 \\ =-2x^2+6x-6 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Answer:

[tex]\begin{equation*} -2x^2+6x-6 \end{equation*}[/tex]
