[tex]5(x+3)=2x-3[/tex]

we need to isolate x

first solve the parenthesis

[tex]5x+15=2x-3[/tex]

now solve x

[tex]\begin{gathered} 5x-2x=-3-15 \\ 3x=-18 \\ x=-\frac{18}{3} \\ x=-6 \end{gathered}[/tex]

the value of x is -6
